Leeds United aren’t having much luck in this January transfer window. They’re clearly keen on signing some new players given links to a horde of names, but most of them seem to be moving elsewhere in Europe.
Daniel Farke’s side got back to winning ways over the weekend. Leeds United beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 to return to the top of the Championship table and put their first league win of 2025 on the board.
It was a relatively convincing win against a strong Owls side. But Farke and indeed the fans know that the second half of the campaign is going to be extremely tough, with new signings likely to be the difference among those in the race for promotion.

Sheffield United now look set to sign Tom Cannon whilst Enzo Le Fee has joined Sunderland, with Burnley looking to make moves too. Leeds though remain quiet in the transfer market.
There’s more and more players being linked with a move to Leeds United but many of the links quickly die out, as other teams join the race and make more concrete moves than Leeds.

Race to sign Leeds United target Mergim Berisha heats up
One such player who might fall into the category of players linked with a move to Elland Road, but eventually move elsewhere, is Mergim Berisha. Former German international Berisha has been told he can leave Hoffenheim in January.
The 26-year-old striker is valued at £5.6million but recent reports revealed that Augsburg want to re-sign Berisha during this January transfer window, in what could easily signal the end of Leeds’ pursuit.
Now though, there’s more bad news. German outlet Kicker report that another Bundesliga club is in for Berisha, with said club likely to be Union Berlin.
Mergim Berisha could be the second Leeds striker target who moves elsewhere
Should Berisha agree a deal to move elsewhere during this January window then he wouldn’t be the first to do so.
Earlier in January, it was revealed that Atlanta United have agreed to sign Emmanuel Latte Lath, who is a target for the 49ers.
So it seems like Farke wants a new striker signing given the links, and despite him suggesting that he’s happy with having Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph as his only fit options right now.
Leeds United are back in Championship action against Norwich City on Wednesday night, in what is a 7:45pm kick off against Farke’s former club.
