Victor Orta is no longer at Leeds United, but he may have just handed the 49ers a fair amount of money from a previous transfer.
Leeds fans’ wait for a transfer goes on as Daniel Farke’s promise of a quiet window is living up to its billing.
There could be elements going on behind the scenes however as Farke has been conversing with Paraag Marathe about the potential of short-term solutions at the club.
There doesn’t seem to be anything concrete yet in terms of Leeds signing anyone but former Director of Football, Orta, might have handed Leeds something after a transfer decision.
A decision that was made back in 2023 that could benefit Leeds fans’ wishes for signings.
Leeds United could land unexpected cash boost from £7m deal
Polish forward Mateusz Bogusz had a fairly unsuccessful time at Elland Road after only three appearances for the first team.
The 23-year-old endured four seasons in Yorkshire before making a permanent move to LAFC in 2023.
Since his departure, Bogusz has enjoyed immense success, performing well with the MLS side and notching up 16 goals last season, and adding to this he also made his international debut with Poland.
All these elements have now led to Bogusz being the subject of a £7m-plus deal from Mexican side Cruz Azul according to Journalist, Cesar Luis Merlo.
Now, the Yorkshire Evening Post are reporting that Leeds inserted a sell-on clause in the deal that took Bogusz to the MLS, and therefore stand to benefit financially should the forward get his latest move.

Bogusz’s cash boost could open the door for signings at Leeds
Despite selling Bogusz permanently, Orta clearly saw something in the striker for a sell-on clause to be included.
Depending on how large of a percentage the clause is, it could help impact Leeds’ ability to sign players.
It doesn’t seem like a financial aspect as to why Leeds haven’t brought anyone in this January, instead a more sustainable stance is being taken.
However, Marathe promised an ‘aggressive’ approach to transfers and he may now have to stick by it as the Bogusz deal looks to get over the line.
