Daniel Farke holds ‘important’ talks with Paraag Marathe as Leeds United make plans

With just over two weeks of the January transfer window to go, Leeds United might have to put their plans into action.

Leeds’ ownership with the 49ers has taken a slight knock this January as Paraag Marathe’s transfer pledge at Leeds isn’t living up to the hype.

This is mainly due to Leeds’ lack of ambition so far this transfer window as the Whites are still yet to secure their first signing at Elland Road this winter.

Four signings had been of interest to Leeds but with limited time left of the window, Leeds will be lucky if they get one done at the current rate of movement in transfers.

However, Daniel Farke has given hope to the fanbase as he revealed some conversations with Marathe.

With doubt cast over Daniel Farke, he’ll be wanting to ensure he ticks every box this window and in terms of guiding Leeds to promotion.

Farke spoke in his pre-match press conference on Friday (16:45) as he revealed some chats he’s been having with Marathe and how they can benefit Leeds in both recent times and the long run.

“After the last game I had a good telephone call with Paraag, things we want to do on the short, mid and long-term,” Farke said.

“Perhaps I have too many conversations…just joking. Our conversations are on a top level. Speaking about everything that’s quite important. Peter Lowy texted me today, will be around for a short chat at training tomorrow. We’re working in the same direction.”

Farke hasn’t ruled out business despite Leeds’ lack of activity

Farke has stated a quiet window at Leeds but that isn’t to say signings won’t come through the door.

Pascal Struijk’s latest injury could open the door for a centre-back signing which will no doubt give the fanbase the excitement they are craving.

Farke said earlier on in Friday’s press conference (13:33) that he will never deny the chance to sign some players.

“To improve the best team in the league is difficult. We are not scared of any improvements.

“Sometimes when you overdo business it’s tricky with spirit and vibes, but I will never rule out business for us because if you find a player that improves the squad, why not?”

The reality is maybe that we will see these ‘top level’ conversations between Farke and Marathe come to fruition in the coming weeks.
