Daniel Farke will be hoping to reunite with Emi Buendia as Leeds United may have just been handed a boost in signing the Aston Villa midfielder.

Buendia is still a possibility at Leeds this window as Daniel Farke would certainly be in favour of working with the Argentine again after their time at Norwich City.

A stance was given on Buendia joining Leeds as it could be likely a loan would suffice for Leeds to acquire the 28-year-old.

The Whites’ pursuit of the midfielder could be more likely after Donyell Malen arrived at Aston Villa giving Leeds a boost to sign Buendia with him more likely to be out of favour.

Villa boss Unai Emery has made his feelings clear on Buendia’s future at Villa Park which Leeds fans might want to hear.

What Unai Emery said about Leeds United target Emi Buendia

Leeds were handed a Mergim Berisha blow as it looks like a deal may not happen for a striker, but Buendia could heighten Farke’s chances for a new midfielder.

Emery commented on Buendia’s future in Friday’s press conference ahead of Villa’s meeting with Arsenal on Saturday.

“The players who are here with us, always we are supporting them. He had last year a long injury but he started this year progressively getting better,” Emery said.

“He didn’t 100 per cent in the season until now. But now he is playing more minutes and helping the team. But maybe he can have the possibility to leave.

“For him, it could be something where he can play more, get more minutes, get confidence again and being comfortable playing again in the starting XI. Of course, now he is helping us and I am happy with his attitude.”

Much has been made of Farke’s decisions when picking players in the starting XI, but if Buendia signed, it would almost be a guarantee the midfielder would start week in, week out.

This is due to the pair’s connection at Norwich as Farke got the best out of Buendia in the Championship.

If this deal comes to fruition, Buendia could be the step Leeds need for promotion back to the Premier League.
