It’s no secret that Erling Haaland has a soft spot for Leeds United and with the new revelation that’s come to light, could Elland Road be home to one of the great strikers of this generation.

Paraag Marathe spoke about being ‘aggressive’ at Leeds in transfer windows to come and although not the case this January, if Leeds return to the Premier League the 49ers can certainly show that intent.

Whether Daniel Farke is the man to take Leeds back to the top flight is another question, as doubt has been cast over Farke’s Leeds future.

However, with the Whites at the top of the tree in the Championship, this situation for Farke looks unlikely although could become clearer if promotion isn’t achieved.

It’s all well and good speaking out about what could happen in the future, but a new situation has emerged at Manchester City which could make Leeds fans very excited for what’s to come.

Leeds United fan Erling Haaland signs new contract at Manchester City

Haaland has a lot of love for Leeds having been born there, and because his dad, Alf-Inge Haaland, played a large part of his career at Elland Road.

Haaland is very ‘proud’ of his Leeds background as many fans will be dreaming about the Norwegian playing his football with the Whites.

The 24-year-old even suggested something Leeds fans would love in his first season with Manchester City, as Haaland wanted to sing Marching On Together for his initiation song.

However, Haaland has now put pen to paper at City in an incredible 9-and-a-half-year deal which will see him stay at the Etihad Stadium until June 2034.

Haaland’s contract extension may put an end to Leeds ‘dream’

Haaland dreams of playing for Leeds but with such a lucrative deal now coming into play, it might be a sign for Leeds fans to let go of the prospect.

With the striker coming into his prime form in a few years, Haaland’s timeline will put him at 34 upon the expiry of this contract.

He clearly sees no better place to be for just under the next ten years which could mean his move to Leeds is in jeopardy.

Speaking back in 2017 to Norwegian newspaper, Aftenposten, Haaland said: “I want to be the best. The dream is to win the Premier League with Leeds.”

However, there is no guarantee the 49ers will achieve their ambition of being a consistent Premier League team at the time, and despite Haaland not slowing down anytime soon, ten years is a long timeframe for that to change.

If it wasn’t for Pep Guardiola and City, Haaland may just have been in the white of Leeds United at Elland Road.
