Fans of Leeds United aren’t really getting what they’d hoped for in this January transfer window. Two weeks in, many would’ve assumed at least one signing had been made. Instead there’s been none.
More worrying though is the fact that Leeds United don’t seem close to making any signings any time soon.
The Whites are painfully quiet in this January transfer window. It was to be expected, as Daniel Farke said Leeds United would be quiet in January. But after back-to-back draws to start the year, there’s become a sense of urgency among supporters.
Improvements are needed at both ends of the pitch. Striker is one of the positions that Farke is quite light in and he’s already been linked with a few. But Leeds have just sent Joe Gelhardt on loan to Hull City and Patrick Bamford is injured.
That leaves just Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph up front right now. Emmanuel Latte Lath is one who’s a target at Elland Road, but Middlesbrough have now agreed him a move elsewhere.
Emmanuel Latte Lath to Atlanta United agreed
Earlier in January, we revealed that Leeds United are keen on Latte Lath at Middlesbrough. Soon after though, Atlanta United were linked, and the MLS side quickly tabled a reported £18million bid for Latte Lath, potentially rising to £20million.
Now, GIVEMESPORT have revealed that ‘Atlanta United have reached a verbal agreement with Middlesbrough’ to sign Latte Lath and make him the most expensive signing in MLS history.
Latte Lath is tied with Joel Piroe for goals in the Championship in 2024/25, both on 10. Leeds are also linked with Mergim Berisha at Hoffenheim, and Aston Villa attacker Louie Barry has been mentioned too.

With Leeds’ pursuit of Latte Lath seemingly over as quickly as it started, Farke may rapidly move on to other targets, with Berisha looking like he could soon be on the move.
Berisha has been left out the last two squads with Hoffenheim having been told that he has no future at the club. It’s also been revealed that Hoffenheim value Berisha at £5.8million; half of what they paid to sign him from Augsburg in 2023.
Whether or not Farke now signs anyone at all remains a mystery. Leeds are looking as though they’re quite content with the squad, although many fans feel different.
