Leeds United’s available squad numbers for new signings in the summer transfer window.
With the parties and the hangovers now long over after Leeds United’s remarkable Championship triumph, attention has turned to preparation for their Premier League return.
Daniel Farke made it clear upon securing promotion that he wants to see ‘ambition’ from the 49ers in the transfer market, and big money will have to be spent if they want to survive.
However, as Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton have shown, it must be spent wisely as well.
A strong start has already been made, with Lukas Nmecha and Jaka Bigol, Sebastian Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson all signed.
Leeds still have several positions in need of improvement, though, and that was before their squad took a hit.
Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell have returned to their parent clubs following successful loan spells, while Junior Firpo and Josuha Guilavogui have both been released after their contracts expired.
A lot more signings are still needed this summer and here are the Leeds squad numbers available to them.
- When does the summer transfer window close? New double window and when Leeds United can make new signings explained

Leeds United available shirt numbers
3
Junior Firpo has opted to leave Leeds upon the expiration of his contract and is likely to return to Real Betis.
That means the No.3 shirt is available for the first time since 2021, but it could soon be filled by his replacement, Gabriel Gudmundsson.
8
Joe Rothwell’s return to Bournemouth and subsequent move to Rangers after his stint on loan opens up the No.8 shirt for a new midfield signing to claim this summer. Leeds could be saving it for target Anton Stach.
12
No one wore No.12 for Leeds last season, with Jaidon Anthony the last player to wear it in 2023-24.
13
No.13 is typically worn by goalkeepers at Leeds and the club will definitely be looking to sign one in the transfer window.
14
Manor Solomon’s return to Tottenham means the No.14 is up for grabs but Leeds might keep it free in case the winger returns to Elland Road. Though that looks very unlikely.
15
The No.15 shirt has been free since Stuart Dallas’ retirement in 2024, and it will take a big player to live up to its legacy.
16
Sonny Perkins was the last player to wear No.16 and it’s a shirt that would suit any position Leeds make a signing in.
20
Dan James swapped No.20 for No.7 last summer and his old digit remains available for new players.
23
Josuha Guilavogui’s departure after a single season at Leeds means his No.23 has become vacant.
24
Georginio Rutter’s £40m sale to Brighton last August freed up No.24 and it has yet to be claimed.
27
No.27 doesn’t have a great recent history at Leeds, with Ian Poveda, Amari Miller and Modou Barrow among its recent occupiers.
28
Karl Darlow swapped No.28 for No.26 last summer and it remains available.
Most of the numbers after 30 are free, but numbers 44 and 45 are currently taken by Ilia Gruev and Harry Gray, respectively.
The No.36 might appeal to incoming signing Sean Longstaff, who wore the jersey for the entirety of his Newcastle tenure.
