Leeds United have waved goodbye to Junior Firpo, leaving them in desperate need of two left-back signings.
The transfer window is now wide open and it’s already been an exciting summer for Leeds United as they prepare the squad for the big step up to the Premier League.
The squad that earned 100 points has already taken several hits, though, with Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell returning to their parent clubs and first-teamers being released.
Josuha Guilavogui’s one-year stay has come to an end, despite Willy Gnonto’s protests, but the headline departure is Junior Firpo.
The left-back was integral to Daniel Farke’s side last season as he provided width and attacking might down the flank, setting up 10 goals and scoring four.
Leeds are now lacking any senior left-backs and will need to rectify that issue in the transfer window.
Here are five possible options they could sign.
- When does the summer transfer window close? New double window and when Leeds United can make new signings explained
Tyrick Mitchell – Crystal Palace

Tyrick Mitchell is bound to have better-placed suitors than a newly promoted side this summer but it can’t hurt Leeds to try, given the left-back is currently set to be available on a free transfer.
Crystal Palace are desperate to tie their reliable and defensively solid left-back to a new deal, though it’s looking increasingly likely he will leave.
Mitchell will probably look to move up a level but Farke wants Leeds to show ‘ambition’ in the window and trying to sign the 25-year-old would certainly show some.
Leif Davis – Ipswich Town

Leeds know Leif Davis well, having signed him when he was just a teenager from Morecambe before selling him to Ipswich Town in 2022.
The Tractor Boys were a League One side then, and Davis played a crucial role in taking them all the way to the Premier League. Things didn’t go well for them in the top flight, but Davis still stood out as one of their best performers.
Signing a defender from a team that has conceded 82 goals in a single season doesn’t sound too appealing, but Davis would certainly bring the attacking might Leeds will want in a left-back, while giving him a more solid back-line to be a part of.
Kostas Tsimikas – Liverpool

Kostas Tsimikas has been at Liverpool for five years now and has never become a regular in the first team, despite showing a lot of talent when he gets minutes.
It’s been tough for him to get ahead of Andy Robertson and Liverpool have now signed Milos Kerkez to replace the Scot, which might force Tsimikas out the door.
In that case, Leeds could be the beneficiaries and swoop in for the Greek international, who has attacking prowess like Firpo, while also bringing a high level of title-winning quality to the side.
Gabriel Gudmundsson – Lille

With Champions League and Ligue 1 experience, Gabriel Gudmundsson has emerged as a target for Leeds.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Leeds are ‘very keen’ on signing the Sweden international.
With plenty of energy on and off the ball, Gudmundsson appears an ideal replacement for Firpo.
Kyle Walker-Peters – Southampton

Kyle Walker-Peters is right-footed but is versatile enough to play on the left and has also been released.
Southampton’s defence was even worse than Ipswich’s, but Walker-Peters remains a canny Premier League operator who would bring a ton of useful experience to the side.
At 28, he is still a good age and would be a really smart addition given his ability to play on either flank, which could see him serve as capable backup to a younger, better left-back and Jayden Bogle on the right.
