Leeds United have a lot going on behind the scenes right now, with changes happening all around. Could Daniel Farke be the next to move on?
Leeds United are undergoing a bit of a makeover behind the scenes at Elland Road with a number of their boardroom figures either moving on, or tipped to move on.
Already we’ve seen Everton appoint Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear. But the Toffees aren’t stopping there: Everton are linked with Nick Hammond and Gary Penrice as well, potentially leaving Leeds with a skeletal boardroom ahead of the summer.
Not only that but Leeds United have huge plans for the summer transfer window following their promotion to the Premier League on Monday. But losing the likes of recruitment figure Penrice would inevitably make signings complicated.
Then on Wednesday it was revealed that Daniel Farke now faces an uncertain future. It was reported that Leeds United could sack Farke ahead of the summer with the 49ers having reservations abut his record in the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho may have already opened the door on Leeds United move
One name being mentioned as a possible Farke replacement is the decorated former Chelsea, Man United and Spurs boss Jose Mourinho. Darren Bent suggested Mourinho would be open to the Leeds United job in a recent interview, although there’s been no official link between the Portuguese and Leeds.
But earlier in the season, the 62-year-old Mourinho, who has three Premier League titles to his name (all with Chelsea), revealed that he’d be open to returning to England one day. Not only that, but that he’d prefer a team near the bottom of the Premier League table, not competing in Europe.
Mourinho said: “The best thing I have to do is when I leave Fenerbahce, I go to a club that doesn’t play in UEFA competition. So a club at the bottom in England who needs a coach in two years, I’m ready to go.”

Bent’s comments started the Mourinho to Leeds United suggestions which have quickly gathered speed on social media.
But it’s purely just a suggestion, a speculative one at that, and there’s no official link between the two right now. Mourinho also suggests that he’s staying at Fenerbahce for at least another year, although the Leeds job opening now may well prompt a change of heart from ‘the Special One’.
Speaking to Leeds United News on Wednesday though, transfer expert Graeme Bailey said there’s no link between Mourinho and Leeds United at this moment in time.
Although Mourinho’s comments from earlier in the season are certainly intriguing and Leeds does sound like the perfect team for him, should he leave Fenerbahce this summer and favour a return to England.
Right now though, there’s no suggestion that he leaves Fenerbahce, and there’s no clear indication that Farke is leaving either.
