What the 49ers did with Chris Wilder during the Leeds United promotion run-in

Leeds United prevailed in the promotion race after a grueling three-horse race all season.

The season has almost met it’s end but Leeds still have a title to win as Ethan Ampadu sent a warning to Burnley.

Daniel Farke and Scott Parker have two games left to decide who really comes out on top despite both confirming their place in the Premier League next season.

The unfortunate soul who’s missed out on this fun is Chris Wilder, who called Leeds’ season ‘insane’.

It was disappointing for the Sheffield United boss, but he didn’t half make it difficult for himself, and that’s where the 49ers took advantage.

What the 49ers did with Chris Wilder at Leeds United

It was a back-and-forth season for Farke who saw his Leeds job in jeopardy, but those claims now cease to exist.

Simon Grayson will be ‘surprised’ if Farke’s sacked, but that doesn’t look like a prospect happening anytime soon.

Instead, it seems the Premier League will be a chance for the Leeds boss to kick on.

But the 49ers used an interesting technique involving Wilder to prove why Farke is perfect for their plans.

According to The Athletic, it’s said ‘Daniel doesn’t get enough credit for how put-together he is’ which is the sentiment of one source close to the ownership.

They ended up contrasting Farke’s behaviour with Wilder’s at the Blades, showing how Wilder can lose his cool after he squared up to Plymouth players, whereas Farke has always been calm and collected.

Wilder’s downfall stemmed from obsession with Leeds

It’s certainly not a friendly relationship with the Sheffield camp and the Whites, but it stemmed from Wilder mocking Leeds in 2019.

Leeds are just seemingly getting their own back, but it’s not like the Blades boss hasn’t been up to his tricks again this season.

Wilder gave Leeds his mind games, which have ultimately not paid off in the run-in, as Sheffield United will be hoping to join Farke’s side through the play-offs.

He’s been the enemy of his own downfall, and his obsession with Leeds might have steered his attention away from the job at hand, which is where Farke flourished.
