Daniel Farke’s Leeds United future is up in the air and causing a lot of debate among fans and pundits alike.

Leeds United fans appear to be mostly siding with Daniel Farke following the club’s promotion to the Premier League. But there’s a definite section of the fanbase that thinks the club needs to be ruthless, and sack Farke if they’re to stand a chance of survival next season.

Chairman Paraag Marathe is set to hold crunch talks with Farke following the Plymouth Argyle game on Saturday and after that we should have a clearer sign of whether or not the German will remain with the club for next season.

But already we’re seeing new names linked with the job. There’s three managers now being linked with Leeds United in Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Davide Ancelotti, and Roger Schmidt.

Now, talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has weighed in with another opinion on the situation at Elland Road.

Simon Jordan suggests that Leeds United could sack Daniel Farke – ‘his job was to get Leeds promoted’

Speaking recently, Jordan gave his verdict on the Steven Gerrard to Leeds United rumours and rubbished the idea that the club would hire such an unproven manager ahead of their return to the Premier League. As it goes, Farke’s Premier League record with Norwich City is a big sticking point among those who want him out.

And speaking on talkSPORT since, Jordan has now appeared to side with the 49ers should they want to replace Farke this summer, suggesting that it could be a decision that’s best for all involved, albeit a harsh one nonetheless.

Jordan said of Farke: “I mean, listen, his job was to get Leeds promoted. That’s what he was brought in to do. And he was given the prerequisite tools. He probably has one of the biggest budgets in the division. Last year, they didn’t achieve it.

“Ipswich Town came from League One straight through and went into the Premier League. They might have come down again, but they took the spot that Leeds in all intents and purposes should have been operating in last year. Yeah, he got them promoted this year. That was his job.

“So with respect I know it sounds a bit harsh, but he did the job that he was brought in to do. Those were the standards that he was set that was a task he was asked to perform.”

Jordan then added: “If these guys think the best version of Leeds United is not with Daniel Farke, Daniel Farke would depart with a nice pay check a big reputation, and go again, and the Leeds fans have to accept that owners often make the same decisions because they think it’s the right thing to do for the football club.”

The compensation owed to Daniel Farke if he’s sacked by Leeds United

For the 49ers, the decision on whether or not to sack Farke comes with some strings. One is that the club would have to compensate him if he’s sacked with two more years left to run on his contract.

It’s been reported that Leeds United would have to pay Farke a year’s salary if they sacked him this summer. How much he earns isn’t clear. But it’d be safe to assume that it wouldn’t be a small sum of money.

Nonetheless, it could be a small price to pay if Leeds United could in turn hire a manager who stabilises them in the Premier League for years to come.

Leeds United finish their season away at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday and a win would see them lift the Championship title, unless Burnley can also win, and overturn what is currently a 13-goal difference.
