After 48 hours of uncertainty and shock over news that Daniel Farke could be leaving Leeds United, we have an answer from the 49ers about what they want to do.
Daniel Farke has just earned his third promotion from the Championship as a manager, and his first with Leeds United in his second season at the club.
On Monday, Leeds United were promoted after Burnley beat Sheffield United at Turf Moor, but soon after it was revealed that Leeds United were considering sacking Farke ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
It was understood that the 49ers had reservations over Farke’s record managing in the Premier League with Norwich City. Soon after it was claimed that Como manager Cesc Fabregas was a target for Leeds United.
Then on Friday, reports confirmed that Leeds United don’t plan on sacking Farke for the time being. They’re expecting that the German will lead Leeds United in the Premier League next season.

Leeds United undeterred by Daniel Farke’s Premier League record at Norwich City
The Athletic has added to the matter, weighing in on the whole debate round Farke’s Premier League record with Norwich City which stands at just six wins from 49 games in charge of the Canaries in the top flight. But to the 49ers and chairman Paraag Marathe, that doesn’t really matter.
Beren Cross writes that ‘Farke’s record in the Premier League with Norwich is not being held against him’ by those behind the scenes at Elland Road. Cross also adds that the Leeds hierarchy feel that Farke ‘was dealt a rough hand at Carrow Road and he will now be better equipped for that experience’.
Leeds United now have two games left to try and clinch the Championship title starting with a home game against Bristol City on Monday night.

How much money Daniel Farke’s Norwich City spent after promotion
Farke won promotion on two occasions with Norwich city, in 2019 and again in 2021 after their immediate relegation from the Premier League in 2020.
But, per Transfermarkt, Norwich City barely spent in the summer of 2019 before their seemingly inevitable relegation back to the Championship, relying instead on very cheap signings and loan signings.
Then in the summer of 2021, Norwich City spent big. But Farke was sacked in the November as Norwich went on to finish dead last under Dean Smith.
| Season | Norwich City total spend on players |
| 2019/20 | £1.9m |
| 2021/22 | £32.4m |
Although money isn’t the be all end all, it certainly helps when battling against relegation, providing it’s spent well. Farke will no doubt have backing this summer but he needs to really nail recruitment.
