Leeds United want to sign Josh Sargent’s Norwich City teammate as sources reveal Daniel Farke interest

Leeds United no doubt have a long list of potential summer signings following their promotion to the Premier League. They could yet raid the Championship for some new names.

There’s been a number of names linked with Leeds United since the turn of the year. And since they got back into 1st place of the Championship table earlier in the month, there’s been a steady stream of new names linked.

But Daniel Farke likes keeping tabs on former transfer targets. Leeds United are backed to move for Cameron Archer in the summer along with Emi Buendia, who the Whites tried to sign during the January transfer window.

Buendia’s link also proved that Farke likes to look at his former players for new recruits: the same can be said of former Krasnodar man Eduard Spertsyan and also Josh Sargent at Norwich City.

It’s rumoured that Leeds United are keeping tabs on Sargent who’s enjoyed a fine season in the Championship scoring 15 in 30 games, assisting five more too. But it’s his prolific teammate Borja Sainz who is a newly-emerging target for the Whites.

Borja Sainz and Josh Sargent are two to keep an eye on at Leeds United

On Monday, Joel Piroe scored four goals against Stoke City to put himself top of the scorers’ chart in the Championship. He’s now on 19 goals for the season and is in prime position to win the Golden Boot award. That is unless Sainz has something to say about it.

The Spaniard is on 17 goals and four assists in 39 Championship games this season: impressive when we remember that he’s a winger, not a striker. And speaking to Leeds United News, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has suggested that the 24-year-old Canaries talisman could be someone who Farke takes a look at this summer.

Asked whether there’s any names to keep an eye on ahead of Leeds United’s summer transfer window, Bailey said: “I think the two Norwich lads, Borja Sainz and Josh Sargent.”

Borja Sainz’s 24/25 stats compared to Manor Solomon at Leeds United

Sainz plays on the left side of attack. Right now that position is Manor Solomon’s but he’s set to return to parent club Spurs, as things stand, although reports claim that Solomon wants to move to Leeds United permanently this summer.

If he does, and Sainz signs, then Farke will have two very capable left-sided attackers, as shown by their statistics in the Championship in 2024/25.

Sainz could offer something a bit different to Solomon: Sainz seems like the more ruthless finisher whereas Solomon has proved more creative, albeit still scoring his share of goals including some very important ones along the way.
