Forget Aaronson, Leeds United should reignite interest in 21-year-old who is available for loan in January

Brenden Aaronson could reportedly be returning to Leeds United next month amid a disastrous start to his loan spell at Union Berlin.

Union are said to be keen on ending his loan early as they sit just outside the relegation zone in the Bundesliga, having also exited Europe completely in the week.

Daniel Farke – who is open to welcoming Aaronson back to Elland Road – is set for talks with the 23-year-old in the coming weeks, which could be make or break for his future at Leeds.

Having missed out on Nadiem Amiri in the summer, Leeds could be in the market for a new number 10 in January and so a return for Aaronson would, in a way, solve that issue.

However, Aaronson has not scored a club goal since August 2022 and would only create toxicity among supporters by returning, and so Leeds should target someone else who is reportedly available.

Man United’s Diallo would be perfect for Leeds

After recovering from injury, Manchester United are set to allow Amad Diallo to leave on loan again in January, with Team Talk reporting a number of Championship clubs are interested, including former club Sunderland.

Diallo enjoyed a brilliant season on loan at Sunderland in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists, proving that he is already a top player at this level.

Until his injury in pre-season, Leeds were linked with a move for Diallo during the summer and now that he is fit and available, interest should be reignited.

Diallo played primarily as a number 10 at Sunderland but can also play on the right, a profile which is missing from the current Leeds squad, despite how well the attack is doing.

Angus Kinnear has already confirmed Leeds’ transfer strategy in January will mainly be made up of loans, and there won’t be many better on the market than this. He’s also got the end product Aaronson has never had.
