Daniel Farke would reportedly be ‘open’ to the possibility of Brenden Aaronson returning to Leeds United in January.

Aaronson is currently almost half way through a season-long-loan deal at Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin, but they are now considering the possibility of terminating his loan early.

The 23-year-old has struggled to make any sort of impact in Germany, with their national media often criticising his lack of physicality and cutting edge in the final third.

But according to Team Talk, Aaronson is now set to hold talks with Farke in the coming weeks about the possibility of returning for the second half of the season.

And it is said that Farke would be open to bringing him back to Leeds, as he feels Aaronson could be a ‘huge boost’ to their squad in the push for automatic promotion.

Aaronson’s Leeds return would be controversial

Aaronson claimed in an interview last month that he felt his chapter at Leeds was not fully closed, despite having been one of the first to leave on loan after the club’s relegation.

Many Leeds supporters have washed their hands with those who decided to secure a temporary exit, particularly those who had not been at the club long, a group which includes Aaronson.

People inside Elland Road reportedly do not see any chance of Aaronson being able to salvage his career at Leeds, but this latest update is a huge new twist on his future.

After Leeds’ failed attempt to sign Nadiem Amiri in the summer, they could well be in the market for a new number 10 next month. Aaronson’s return could potentially eliminate that prospect.

However, Farke certainly has to bare in mind what sort of reaction his comeback would get by Leeds supporters, as the last thing he would want in a promotion push is any sort of toxicity.
