Leeds now eyeing loan for ‘amazing’ £20m winger who scored 14 goals last season

Leeds United are considering a loan bid for Manchester United winger Amad Diallo as the Whites prepare for some of their star players to push for a move away from Elland Road.

That is according to the Sunday People (25/6; page 56), which suggests that Leeds will try their luck for the £20 million youngster who enjoyed a superb loan spell in the Championship last season.

Amad Diallo was certainly one of the stars of the show as Sunderland squeezed their way into the play-offs. The 20-year-old scored 14 times for the Black Cats who were beaten in the semi-final by Luton.

The Sunday People (25/6; page 56) reports that Erik ten Hag would prefer for Amad to move abroad or join a Premier League side this summer as he looks to continue his development.

But Leeds may ask about the youngster, with Jack Harrison and Willy Gnonto amongst those keen on moving away.

Of course, any player coming in from Manchester United is going to be under greater pressure. And it is fair to say that a couple of the more recent names to make that move are not remembered particularly fondly.

Amad however, is an ‘amazing‘ talent and proven in the second tier. And he should only continue to get considerably better. So if there is a possibility of a loan deal, Leeds have to grasp it with both hands.

Ultimately, this summer has not started in the right way for Leeds. We are still waiting for a managerial appointment. And a number of the players still on the books are surely going to be nowhere near the club by the time the campaign starts.

So Leeds on the back foot. They will surely need to utilise the loan market well. And if Amad is available, it is a no-brainer at this stage if we are going to lose the likes of Harrison and Gnonto.
