Phil Hay says Leeds United have now ‘agreed’ a deal for first January signing, he’s travelling for a medical

Leeds United are finally set to secure their first signing of the January transfer window.

The Whites have been in the market for another right-back ever since the departures of Djed Spence and Luke Ayling earlier in the month and finally look to have got their man.

Ben Johnson, Neco Williams and Daiki Hashioka are just some of the names that have fallen through over the last month, but a move is finally close for Burnley’s Connor Roberts.

It was reported earlier today that a move had been close after discussions were opened the between the two clubs, but according to Phil Hay, a deal has now been agreed.

Hay states that Roberts is now travelling to West Yorkshire to undergo a medical, with Leeds coming to an agreement with the Premier League side over a straight loan deal until the end of the season.

Roberts is a player who has been linked with Leeds ever since Spence was sent back to Tottenham, and they have now finally got their man.

The 28-year-old has been open to a switch to Elland Road ever since Leeds’ interest became public, with three of his Wales international teammates already playing big roles at the club.

Despite having played over half-an-hour for Burnley at Manchester City last night, a deal has never been off the table, with Vincent Kompany admitting before the game it was a possibility.

Roberts’ arrival is huge news to Leeds supporters given the desperation to bring in another right-back over the last few weeks. He will be competing with Archie Gray for that spot.
