28-year-old Premier League player would like to join Leeds United this month

Leeds United have had a very quiet start to the January transfer window.

The Whites’ only business of note so far have involved two existing loans. Djed Spence’s from Tottenham Hotspur was surprisingly cut short last week, with Daniel Farke explaining the reasons behind the decision on Friday.

Leeds also recalled Sonny Perkins from his time at Oxford United early after he had made just three very brief appearances in League One since moving in the summer.

Perkins is no longer part of the plans under Farke but Spence had just began to establish himself as a regular at Leeds and so his exit from Elland Road leaves them short at right-back.

One player who has been mentioned as a potential replacement is Burnley’s Connor Roberts, and according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, he would ‘welcome’ a move to Leeds.

Roberts would welcome Leeds move

Should he make the move, Roberts would become the fourth Wales international in Leeds’ squad, with Dan James, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon all having played regularly this season.

And while he would like to reunite with that trio at Leeds, the YEP also state that nothing is imminent regarding a move for Roberts.

It is said that Burnley would only be willing to part with the 28-year-old this month if a replacement comes in, with Brazilian Vitinho the only other option at right-back in Vincent Kompany’s squad.

This may be a case of Leeds having to be patient in regards to their January business. It is never easy to do business this month as clubs do not want to part with players mid-season to leave themselves short.

Roberts would be a solid replacement for the outgoing Spence due to the relationship he has with Rodon, as well as his experience at this level of football.
