Leeds United look set to enter the market for another right-back following Djed Spence’s return to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Whites decided earlier this week to end Spence’s season-long-loan deal at Elland Road early, with the decision officially confirmed by the club in a statement on Thursday night.
Daniel Farke explained both his and the club’s decision in his press conference earlier today, stating that there was no major reason behind his early return to Spurs.
He was then also asked whether Leeds would look to bring in a replacement and while he did not really confirm either way, it would be strange if the club decided to end the window weaker than they started it.
However, according to journalist Darren Witcoop, Leeds are on the hunt for replacements and hold an interest in signing Burnley right-back Connor Roberts, with Luke Ayling to Middlesbrough also possible.
Leeds interested in Burnley’s Roberts
Should he make the switch to Leeds, Roberts would become the fourth Wales international in the squad alongside Dan James, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon.
Roberts has made 12 appearances for Burnley so far this season but has not started a single match since a 3-0 defeat at Brentford back in October.

The 28-year-old was a key part of Burnley’s Championship title-winning campaign in 2022/23, scoring four goals in 43 appearances, which saw him named in the division’s team of the season.
Earlier on in his time at Burnley back in April 2022, Roberts won praise from Micah Richards on Match of the Day for his ‘passion and desire’, as well as his ability defensively.
There is no doubt that Leeds are in huge need of a right-back before the end of the window and Roberts would provide a bit of experience to what is a young squad at Elland Road.
