Leeds United could be in for a fairly busy transfer deadline day.
The Whites are yet to make a single signing so far in the January window but still have some positions which could do with strengthening and it appears work is underway in order to do so.
Defence is very much the priority for Leeds before tonight’s 11pm deadline having lost both Djed Spence and Luke Ayling earlier in the window, with a host of names having been linked as replacements.
Leeds have come up short in their pursuit of a number of those, with deals for Neco Williams, Ben Johnson and Daiki Hashioka all off the table.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Leeds have now opened discussions with Burnley over the signing of Connor Roberts, a name who has been linked with a move to Elland Road throughout the window.
Leeds open talks to sign Roberts
The article states that Leeds have been considering a number of options both domestically and abroad, but it is Roberts who the Whites are seemingly keen to get a deal done for.
Roberts is open to a move to West Yorkshire in order to link up with Wales international teammates Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Dan James, who are all already here.
Burnley are reportedly open to sanctioning a deal before tonight’s deadline, but it could hinge on them finding a replacement, which they may have found in Borussia Dortmund’s Thomas Meunier.
Roberts played just over half an hour for Burnley against Manchester City last night but Vincent Kompany admitted in his pre-match press conference that a move is not off the table.
Leeds are in desperate need of a right-back before tonight’s deadline and the ‘excellent’ Roberts would fit the bill given his experience at this level.
