Leeds United winger update from ‘club sources’ after meeting with Igor Paixao

Leeds United seem to be heightening their pursuit of Igor Paixao this summer.

The Brazilian has so far gotten exceptional reviews from Leeds fans and looks to be the real deal.

But whether the Whites can formulate a deal is another question, as despite being injured, Leeds are very keen on Paixao.

So much so that meetings have taken place with the player’s representatives, as Paixao has been ‘fully approved’.

However, a new update suggests the 49ers are working effectively, as Paixao may not be the only one.

Leeds United sources give winger update after Igor Paixao meeting

It’s looking pretty obvious that a deal could be done for the Feyenoord winger, especially after Marseille had their Paixao bid rejected.

But this is a message to the Leeds owners that they will have to pay up this summer, as Paixao is valued at £26m.

Daniel Farke needs some flair and more threat coming off the wings, as after Dan James signed a new contract, Paixao can complete the puzzle.

It’s unclear whether the 49ers will definitely pay the asking price set by the Dutch giants, but Beren Cross from The Athletic has given some insight into Leeds’ situation.

Cross reports that Paixão is the name that has emerged this week, and Leeds are understood to have pitched to the Feyenoord winger’s representatives.

But the main reveal is that club sources maintain he is ‘one of several wingers’ they have had such meetings about, proving that the Brazilian isn’t the only one they’re after.

Other wingers who could be on Leeds’ list alongside Paixao

With the 25-year-old looking like the priority target for the left-wing position, the 49ers are prepared if all else fails.

Feyenoord are lining up Paixao’s replacement, which gives reason why the winger could certainly leave, and the Whites seem to be the most likely destination so far.

But with other targets clearly in the frame alongside the Brazilian, these three players could have already had meetings with Leeds after previous interest.

Daizen Maeda£25m

Of course, Solomon will always be in the back of the 49ers’ mind as Tottenham boss Thomas Frank could still be deciding what to do with him, especially as Solomon is ‘problematic’ for Spurs’ Champions League squad.

It’s clear that the owners aren’t just focusing on Paixao, but he’s right at the top of their list.
