Leeds United’s summer business is going to go one of two ways – depending on whether the club are promoted to the Premier League, or forced to endure another season of Championship football.
Now third in the Championship table after Saturday’s draw with Luton Town, Daniel Farke remains utterly confident that his side will achieve a place in the Premier League. But results on the pitch are less certain.
Indeed, Leeds have just one win in six and have drawn the last three games. A trip to Middlesbrough is next with Michael Carrick’s side fighting for a play-off place, and have beaten Leeds earlier this season.
Promotion sees Leeds keep their best players and spend big. Adam Pope expects six major signings with over £100m spent – much like Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton did in the previous summer window.

West Brom star eyes Leeds United move, puts MLS offers on hold
But failure to go up and Leeds will have to cash in on some of their star talents just to balance the books. The recently released financial records of 2023-24 show just how detrimental relegation is on a club.
But according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon on his Patreon channel, that has not stopped Leeds showing an interest in West Brom winger Grady Diangana. The winger is out of contract at West Brom this summer.
Available on a free and described as “magnificent” by Lee Hendrie for his trickery, Diangana will leave West Brom and Nixon says Leeds are keen. But that MLS sides want to secure Diangana’s signature.
However, Diangana has postponed committing his future across the pond because he wants to hold out for a potential move to Leeds or even Premier League side Wolves, who fancy him as a squad option.
Leeds’ interest in Grady Diangana is not new under Daniel Farke
Clearly, Farke is a fan of Diangana. He scored the only goal of the game back in 2023-24 when West Brom beat Leeds. The Whites have been linked with a £7m move for Diangana during Farke’s era in charge.
Leeds do have options out wide. Dan James, Willy Gnonto, Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon are the current options but next season, who knows. Promotion is likely to see Leeds sign Solomon permanently.
But failure to go up will see Solomon go and potentially James and Gnonto too, given their form and the interest around them. So, Championship football may open up a possibility of a move to Elland Road.
Whether Diangana is keen on joining a Leeds side still in the Championship remains to be seen. But, a Premier League Leeds may have a bigger and better calibre of player to search from, than Diangana.
