Leeds United are now beginning to move vigorously in the transfer market.

Sean Longstaff’s transfer looks soon to be confirmed, and Anton Stach’s pursuit has heightened, and now Igor Paixao is back on the radar.

In the early stages of the season, Leeds opened talks with Paixao, as the Brazilian looks to be an exciting prospect.

The 25-year-old was on fire in the Netherlands for Feyenoord last campaign, notching up 32 goal contributions.

With the exciting attacker back on their radar after it looked like Aston Villa would go all in for Paixao, Leeds are firmly back in the race.

How Leeds United truly feel about signing Igor Paixao

After the long-lasting impression he’s left on clubs around the Premier League, Leeds are lacking another option on the wing, and Paixao fits the bill.

Not only is he a tricky winger who possesses skill, which has seen Paixao take inspiration from Raphinha, but the Brazilian also has a lethal shot.

Adding to the Raphinha claim, fans see Paixao as the next Georginio Rutter, giving insight into exactly what Daniel Farke could be getting.

Although his interest appeared to have quietened down, Graham Smyth for the Yorkshire Evening Post has confirmed anything but that.

It’s been confirmed that Paixao is one of the wingers Leeds have spoken to about a transfer, but there appeared to be a stumbling block.

Paixao suffered an injury that may have brought a halt to him leaving Feyenoord this summer, but Leeds are willing to continue their pursuit of the Brazilian as they decided to meet his agents this week despite the injury, with Paixao ‘high up’ on the 49ers’ list.

What Feyenoord have said about Leeds target Paixao’s injury

With there being the element of an injury, this might actually work in Leeds’ favour.

It’s said that Marseille are also showing an interest, and the French side might not take a chance on the winger with his injury, but it seems as though this doesn’t faze Leeds in the slightest.

The Whites are clearly big admirers of the attacker, Paixao is open to a Leeds transfer, with the Brazilian no doubt expecting interest from the biggest league in Europe after his performances.

But his injury will surely bring some concern to the Leeds hierarchy, and it’s just a case of how bad it really is.

Well, Feyenoord confirmed how long Paixao is likely to be out, and it shouldn’t really affect Leeds’ pursuit.

A statement from the Dutch giants said: “Igor Paixão has suffered a muscle injury and faces a recovery period of several weeks. The winger will therefore miss the start of the 2025-26 season with Feyenoord. Paixão sustained the injury during training last Thursday and was therefore forced to miss the friendly against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.”

With it looking like a short-term setback for Paixao, Leeds have every right to see if they can formulate a transfer, and according to Smyth, Farke’s side are very keen.
