Leeds United are working on a deal to sign Igor Paixao from Feyenoord this summer, in what could prove to be the Whites’ most expensive signing of the window.

Igor Paixao is hot property after his prolific 2024/25 season with Feyenoord in the Eredivisie, in which the Brazilian winger scored 16 goals and assisted 10 more in 34 league games for Robin van Persie’s side.

Earlier in the summer, Leeds United’s initial links to Paixao emerged, though they looked nothing too serious at the time.

But reports in the last 24 hours have really ramped up and now it’s being reported that Leeds United have held talks with Paixao, and that a deal now hinges on Leeds and Feyenoord agreeing on a price tag.

The Dutch giants want £26million for Paixao this summer. It’s understood that Leeds United are hesitant about paying Paixao’s transfer fee but that Daniel Farke remains determined to complete a deal for the 25-year-old.

Igor Paixao’s stance on a Leeds United transfer this summer

Last season, Paixao had links to some of Europe’s biggest clubs including both Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as Napoli. At the time, Paixao said on his future at Feyenoord: “I will do my best at Feyenoord until the end of the season. If I stay, that’s fine. And if I leave, that will be the result of my game here.

“In any case, I want to leave something beautiful here. Moreover, I still have a contract until 2029. I will then focus on Feyenoord. It is up to the Feyenoord board and my agents to determine what is best for everyone.”

But when links to Elland Road emerged earlier this summer, reports revealed that Paixao is open to joining Leeds United this summer, though a move obviously depends on whether or not Leeds and Feyenoord can come to an agreement on the price tag.

Does this mean a deal for Manor Solomon is dead in the water?

Going into the summer, Manor Solomon looked like a prime target for Farke. And a move looked to have legs at multiple times, but this week, Solomon posted a picture in training with Spurs and it looks like new boss Thomas Frank is going to give him a chance to impress in North London.

Now with Leeds pursuing Paixao for the right wing slot, after Dan James signed a new contract, it looks like Leeds have tabled their pursuit of Solomon for the time being, though another potential loan deal later in the summer shouldn’t be ruled out.

If Spurs go on to sign some more new wingers it could push Solomon down the pecking order, and Spurs could look to either loan him out again or sell him, with Leeds no doubt at the front of the queue should that happen.

Even with Paixao arriving, another winger like Solomon who can operate on both flanks could be vital for next season.
