Kyle Walker-Peters has been a transfer target for Leeds United throughout this summer, though it looked like the former Spurs and Southampton man was set for Besiktas.

Kyle Walker-Peters is a free gent after leaving Southampton as a free agent following the Saints’ relegation from the Premier League last season.

Back in January, it was reported that Leeds wanted to sign Walker-Peters on a free transfer this summer. But all along, there have been reports of a growing number of other clubs interested in the full-back.

Everton and West Ham also like Walker-Peters, though reports earlier in the month revealed how Walker-Peters had agreed a move to Besiktas, who seem to be signing an increasing amount of Leeds’ targets this summer.

The 28-year-old’s move to Turkey fell through in dramatic fashion on Thursday, though. Besiktas announced that they have withdrawn their offer to sign Walker-Peters who requested more time to decide on his next move.

Have Leeds United made a move to sign Kyle Walker-Peters?

Soon after the news coming out of Besiktas, it was revealed that West Ham and another, unnamed club have made offers for Walker-Peters, which is why he requested more time from Besiktas. Posting on Patreon, ExWHUEmployee revealed the news, adding that West Ham are hoping to seal a deal for Walker-Peters in the coming days.

They write: “West Ham have made a last minute move for Kyle Walker-Peters. It appears we have decided that he could provide good cover for right-back and left-back with both our defenders due to go to the African Nations.

“A free transfer move to Turkey has fallen through because of ours and another club’s move. It is hoped we could complete the move in the coming days.”

Whether Leeds United will sign another full-back after Gabriel Gudmundsson

Junior Firpo has joined Real Betis after letting his Leeds contract come to an end. But Daniel Farke has replaced him with Gabriel Gudmundsson and with Sam Byram signing a new contract at Leeds, whether or not another full-back signing is a priority right now remains to be seen.

Jayden Bogle is no doubt the starting right-back. But Walker-Peters would add undeniable quality and experience to the side, and his whole USP is that he can play left or right-back.

But game time could be more readily available at West Ham after the departure of Vladimir Coufal, who’s been linked with Leeds United this summer, and with West Ham set to lose some defenders when AFCON gets underway in December 2025.
