There’s less than two weeks remaining in the January transfer window now. And yet, Leeds United are still to complete their first signing of the winter window.
Very little was expected from Leeds United during this January transfer window. Speaking even before the market opened, Daniel Farke said Leeds would be quiet in January.
Still, seeing the clubs around them making impressive signings, and with definite cracks in the Leeds squad right now, fans are anxious about the state of play at Elland Road.
Nonetheless, names continue to be linked. Farke insists that transfer talks are happening behind the scenes and it looks like a striker signing could be at the front of Farke’s thinking.
There’s a growing number of strikers linked with Leeds United and although Farke says that he’s happy with his current options, the injury to Patrick Bamford really does leave Farke light up top.
One name linked with Leeds United right now in Kelechi Iheanacho. And he could well be on the move very soon.

Sevilla manager confirms incoming offers for Kelechi Iheanacho
Former Manchester City and Leicester City striker Iheanacho joined La Liga giants Sevilla on a free transfer during the summer. But in nine league outings so far, he’s yet to score, and it looks like he could be on the move again in this January window.
It’s reported that Leeds are interested in Iheanacho, whose manager at Sevilla has now confirmed that the Nigerian striker wants to leave and that the club have already received offers for the 28-year-old.
Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta has told Spanish outlet Diario de Sevilla: “I don’t know if Kelechi will stay until the end of the season. There have been offers for him, he is established in England and I’m sure he wants to play more. I understand that he wants to leave. But if I consider that he should participate, he will participate.”
Per Capology, Iheanacho earns a stunning €93,000-a-week at Sevilla, or £79,000-a-week.

Claims regarding Kelechi Iheanacho’s weight are talked down
Pimienta has been discussing Iheanacho’s situation very honestly and in some depth recently, even addressing media speculation that the striker isn’t performing at his best because he’s currently overweight.
Responding to suggestions that Iheanacho is overweight, Pimienta had this to say: “He is at his weight. In that sense we are very strict. I don’t know about this week that he has not trained for a while, but this time he has been.”
But that might just be Pimienta trying to keep Iheanacho in the shop window, as no club would want to buy an overweight player.
Whether or not any of the incoming offers for Iheanacho come from Leeds remains to be seen. It could also be that there’s other teams at the top of the Championship table or the bottom of the Premier League eyeing the frontman.
But it’s quite an exciting link nonetheless, and it would be intriguing to see how Iheanacho would fare in a Leeds shirt.
