Leeds United fans are waiting to see their club announce just one signing in this January transfer window. There’s some exciting names linked, but Daniel Farke may have his eye on one name over anyone else.
Leeds United remain in 1st place of the Championship table, owing to their 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday last time out. But should the winter window end and Leeds don’t bolster, they’ll surely be tipped to struggle in the second half of the campaign.
Daniel Farke seems to be biding his time in the transfer market. He said in his press conference after the win over Wednesday that transfer meetings are taking place all the time at Elland Road, though we’re yet to see anyone come close to moving to West Yorkshire.
There’s a number of players linked with Leeds United right now. But it seems like Farke may have his sights set on what could be a season-defining capture, with his former Norwich City talisman Emi Buendia being a target.

Leeds United blow as Besiktas join Emi Buendia transfer race
Former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has returned to management this month, taking over Turkish SuperLig side Besiktas in a move that’s gotten the attention of many football fans.
The Norwegian now looks set to make some moves in this January transfer window. And it’s been reported by AS Marca that Buendia is a target for Solskjaer’s Besiktas revolution, along with names such as Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, and several others.
Buendia has featured 11 times in the Premier League for Aston Villa in 2024/25. Speaking recently, Villa boss Unai Emery said Buendia could leave in January.
Daniel Farke’s Emi Buendia transfer hint at Leeds United
Speaking after the win over Wednesday, Farke spoke about Buendia. He was asked for the latest on a move for the 28-year-old playmaker, to which Farke replied: “I don’t speak about any other player under contract at another club.
“Obviously I’ve worked with him for many years, I really rate him. I don’t comment on players on other clubs.”
Since then, it’s been revealed that Buendia wants to stay in Europe should he move in January, amid reports that Argentinian outfit River Plate were eyeing a shock move.
With little under two weeks left of the winter transfer window, it now looks like Buendia’s situation at Villa Park will really heat up with Emery all but giving him the green light to leave, and more clubs showing an interest.
This still looks like a tricky pursuit for the Whites. But if Farke can bring Buendia to Elland Road, it would be a huge signing for sure.
