Club could let £12m player leave on one condition this summer with Leeds United interested

Leeds United have been given encouragement in their pursuit of one of their next summer transfer targets.

It has been a quiet few days on the transfer front since Jayden Bogle’s arrival was confirmed on Saturday evening, with Leeds now out in Germany for their pre-season tour.

Reports gathered pace on Tuesday that Leeds were lining up a double swoop for Harrison Burrows and Sammie Szmodics, though that appears to be wide of the mark.

Burrows is undergoing a medical at Sheffield United today ahead of a £3 million move, while ‘sources at Elland Road’ have suggested they are not in for Szmodics either.

Central midfield, centre-back cover and out wide appear to be the positions at the top of Leeds’ wish list right now.

Crystal Palace stance on Jesurun Rak-Sayki revealed

Leeds are only likely to move for new wingers if one or both of Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville depart this summer.

It is said Leeds already have plans in place for if this scenario arises, with the recruitment team ‘prised’ to move for whenever that happens.

One winger who has been linked with a move to Elland Road is Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, with Leeds among the sides keen on a loan deal.

However, Leeds will face plenty of competition for the 21-year-old with almost the entirety of the Championship, as well as Southampton, interested.

Amid the interest, a new report from Team Talk has now revealed what Crystal Palace’s stance is on an exit for Rak-Sakyi before the end of the window.

Rak-Sakyi is rated ‘highly’ at Selhurst Park but could be allowed to leave if they receive a ‘sizeable’ offer, though their preference is to send him on loan to the Championship.

Rak-Sakyi makes transfer wish clear this summer

Despite Palace’s desire to send him out on loan, Southampton have actually been looking to flex their Premier League muscle over the interested Championship sides.

The Saints are set to make an offer of £12 million to sign Rak-Sakyi permanently, which would be a major test of Palace’s resolve given his lack of Premier League experience.

Rak-Sakyi is also said to be keen on the move to St. Mary’s as he wants to play top-flight football under the management of Russell Martin.

It feels like a lot will need to happen for Rak-Sakyi to be a Leeds player in the coming weeks.
