Leeds United have been linked with a Premier League forward this summer, but face competition for his signature.

The Whites are on the hunt for new options in the strikeforce over the transfer window, which will improve their chances of winning promotion to the Premier League.

It comes during a period of uncertainty surrounding Daniel Farke and the squad he will have available in the Championship this coming season.

Crysencio Summerville has been linked with an exit from Leeds, while Wilfried Gnonto has also been rumoured with a transfer to Everton.

That has led to talks of possible replacements, with Leeds firming up interest in Blackburn Rovers attacking midfielder Sammie Szmodics.

Last season’s Championship top scorer isn’t the only player on the radar though, as one Premier League star is also being linked.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi transfer latest

One player being linked with a move to Leeds is Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who has drawn attention from plenty of teams this summer.

While The Whites could bolster their forward ranks with the 21-year-old, the competition for his signature is intense.

Most notably, Leeds face a challenge from Southampton, who appear to be frontrunners in a permanent switch for the winger.

According to a report from Sky Sports, the Saints are still in talks with Crystal Palace over a move in the weeks ahead.

An initial loan deal with an option for a permanent deal is being discussed, while Rak-Sakyi is claimed to be “determined” to move to Saint Mary’s.

It remains to be seen whether the Eagles will accept a deal for the youngster, with the original plan being a season-long loan to the Championship.

Should they stick to that, it could increase the chance of Leeds securing a deal, despite the offer from Southampton.

Leeds United transfer decision

The current balance of the transfer market leaves Leeds facing some huge decisions in the weeks leading up to the new season.

The loss of any key star would require a move into the market, but the longer that drags on, the tougher it may be to land the right target and integrate them quickly.

It means the board may not be able to afford to play the waiting game with some targets, leaving a huge decision on the next options available.

It remains to be seen how the window unfolds, but there are some huge few weeks ahead for Leeds and the future of their campaign.
