Leeds United are close to confirming the sale of a sixth player this summer and more are expected, with a Premier League club confident a £22m fee will be enough to sign an Elland Road star.
Archie Gray is the big one to have gone through this summer. The teenager joining Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £40m, while both Marc Roca and Diego Llorente have left permanently for Real Betis.
Kris Klaesson has joined Polish side Rakow and Charlie Cresswell has made the intriguing move to Ligue 1 side Toulouse. Glen Kamara is edging closer to an £8.5m move to Rennes with a medical book today.
More are likely and this week, one Leeds player is being linked with a move back to the Premier League and a possible reunion with Jack Harrison. Everton are rivaling Newcastle for Wilfried Gnonto’s signature.
Everton confident of completing Gnonto deal with fee identified
Indeed, Everton are said to have opened talks to sign Gnonto this week. A move that has long been in the making, with the Italy star attempting to force through a transfer to Goodison Park almost a year ago.
A year later, Planet Sport report Everton are confident of signing Gnonto. A player Gary Neville described as “mature” in analysis while Leeds were in the Premier League, as Gnonto burst onto the top-tier scene.
The report says Everton have identified a fee they feel will be enough to tempt Leeds into a sale. The Toffees think a fee of £22m is enough to tempt Leeds into selling the Italy star in the coming weeks.
Nottingham Forest bid, Newcastle interest, Gnonto’s entourage
Gnonto has been the subject of many differing reports this summer. Nottingham Forest have tabled a £16.9m bid for Gnonto but reports of that offer have since gone cold, suggesting Leeds rejected that.
Leeds are said to rate Gnonto at £25m or more, but Everton feel a slightly smaller fee will get it done. Newcastle are also said to be interested in a deal for Gnonto too, with Miguel Almiron set to depart.
Gnonto’s agents are of the opinion that the Leeds winger will exit in the coming weeks, even if Gnonto is not particularly pushing for a move away from the Yorkshire club this summer.
