Leeds United have already completed the permanent sales of five players and on Tuesday, that could turn into six with a medical scheduled for an Elland Road star.

Archie Gray was the first big sale of the summer, leaving Leeds for £40m as The 49ers chose to cash in on the club’s brightest star to comply with Profit & Sustainability Rules and avoid Leeds a points deduction.

Gray has made an excellent first impression at Tottenham both on and off the pitch, and the deal allowed Joe Rodon to come the other way. Marc Roca was next, turning his loan at Betis into a permanent deal.

Kris Klaesson has joined Polish side Rakow, Charlie Cresswell has moved to France with Toulouse and then Diego Llorente reunited with Marc Roca at Betis for a fee a mere sixth of the £18m Leeds paid to sign him.

Leeds close to confirming sixth permanent sale this summer

Glen Kamara only joined Leeds last summer from Rangers for £5m, but already he is set to go. Rennes are long-term admirers of Kamara and he is set for a move to Ligue 1, with Rennes paying £8.5m for Kamara.

Kamara has been spotted missing from the recent Leeds training video uploaded by LUTV and reports from France suggested that personal terms between Kamara and French side Rennes had been agreed.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has an update. He has told football fans on X that Kamara will undergo a medical on Tuesday at Rennes before completing a permanent move to the French club, Leeds’ sixth summer sale.

Romano reported on X: “Glen Kamara will undergo medical tests as new Rennes player on Tuesday. Deal done for €10m with Leeds United as revealed on Saturday. Exclusive story, set to be confirmed.”

Joe Rothwell cannot be seen as replacement for Glen Kamara

As players continue to be sold at Elland Road, Leeds did announce the surprise signing of midfielder Joe Rothwell from Bournemouth on loan. A central midfielder known for his ability to score goals from deep.

Rothwell is a solid player, a player that is perfect at the top end of the Championship. But he is not like Kamara in terms of midfield style, and Leeds cannot see Rothwell as a direct replacement for Kamara.

Leeds need another midfielder that is as defensively sound as Kamara, excellent passing in transition and the ability to provide some much-needed experience. Leeds fans should expect another midfield signing.
