Josh Warrington thinks Leeds United could make ‘a lot of money’ on one player this summer

Leeds United have already made a number of permanent sales this summer but more are expected as Glen Kamara edges closer to an exit, and another could be winger Crysencio Summerville.

Archie Gray’s is by far and away the biggest sale of the summer, joining Tottenham in a £40m deal that sees a quarter of that fee return to Spurs as Leeds secured the permanent signing of defender Joe Rodon.

Elsewhere, Charlie Cresswell and Kris Klaesson have moved to France and Poland. Marc Roca and Diego Llorente had no future at Leeds and both players have joined La Liga side Real Betis for less than £8m.

But more are expected and Kamara is closing in on a move to Rennes for £8.5m. Summerville, meanwhile, is the subject of interest from the majority of Premier League clubs after a stellar 2023-24 campaign.

Now, Josh Warrington has had his say on Summerville in an exclusive interview with LeedsUnited.News:

Josh Warrington desperate for Summerville to stay at Leeds

The most-recent reports say Summerville is ‘weighing up his future’ with Newcastle and Aston Villa keen. Palace too, as they look to sign a replacement for Michael Olise after his £50m move to Bayern Munich.

Eddie Howe is said to be a ‘big admirer’ and would even sell Miguel Almiron to interested Saudi Arabian clubs just to get a deal done for Summerville. The Mirror’s report says Summerville is rated at £40m.

But ‘Leeds warrior’ Warrington has told LeedsUnited.News that he is desperate for Summerville to stay, even if the two-time IBF featherweight world champions knows Summerville would rake in a big fee.

“You look at the money you could bring in, with the rules and regulations, we could make a lot of money. When he puts the shirt on, he scores goals. He had a lot of good games last season,” Warrington said.

“So I’d be disappointed to see him go. We know what we’ve got with him, Farke knows how he works. At Elland Road, there’s a lot of pressure. He’s learned that, he knows what it’s about. I’d like to see him stay.”

Nancy Froston gave a recent update on Summerville’s future

The Athletic’s Leeds reporter Froston was recently asked about Summerville’s future and if there was a possibility the Dutchman could end up staying at Elland Road, and she suggested that could happen.

Indeed, there is plenty of interest in Summerville but as things stand, only Brighton have opened talks to sign him. However, the Seagulls have suffered a breakdown in talks to sign Summerville from Elland Road.

Froston said: “A good chance he stays. He’s got big ambitions to play higher. If a top Premier League team puts some money on the table, not looking that way at the moment. I fancy him to still be around.”
