Leeds United are in a better place when it comes to fielding offers for their best players this summer after the sale of Archie Gray, and it might explain the latest on one in-demand star.

Leeds needed to sell one big name before the Profit & Sustainability Rules deadline and off went Archie Gray to Tottenham for a fee of £40m. Pure profit, in the eyes of PSR, which is a good thing financially.

It means Leeds are in a stronger position to field bids for other in-demand stars. Georginio Rutter, Ilia Gruev, Glen Kamara, Willy Gnonto and plenty of others are said to be the subject of interest this summer.

Even Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford are supposedly wanted by overseas clubs. Crysencio Summerville though is the one that is attracting the most interest, with Brighton in talks for the Summerville of late.

Brighton suffer breakdown in talks to sign Leeds United star

The “exceptional” star is also a target for Liverpool and Chelsea, but Brighton were believed to be pushing for a move. However, they have signed Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United for a fee north of £30m.

TeamTalk now deliver an update on Brighton’s potential £30m move for Summerville. They say that talks between Leeds and Brighton have not progressed and a deal is now off for the Seagulls to sign the star.

Had Brighton approached Leeds before the sale of Gray and prior to the PSR deadline, they might have found a deal easier to do. But with Gray gone and strengthening Leeds’ position, talks have broken down.

Other clubs are expected to come in for Summerville this summer

The report from TeamTalk say Liverpool and Chelsea remain interested in the Leeds star. Eddie Howe is said to be a ‘big admirer’ of Summerville, and is willing to sell Miguel Almiron to fund a £25m transfer.

Crystal Palace were said to be interested in him if they sold Michael Olise or Eberechi Eze, and of course, Olise has joined Vincent Kompany’s newly-inherited side this summer for a fee close to the £50m mark.

PSG are also after Summerville as they look to replace Kylian Mbappe after his blockbuster move to Real Madrid. It is early in the window but the chances are Summerville will continue to have interest in him.
