PSG now want to sign £30m Leeds United player this summer after Whites had been open to sale

Paris Saint Germain are ready to inflict Leeds United’s second major sale of the summer.

The French champions are on the lookout for numerous players to replace outgoing superstar Kylian Mbappe, who has already joined Real Madrid, and could be about to turn their attention towards Leeds.

After failing to win promotion, Leeds always knew that at least one major sale would be needed and that officially arrived earlier today with confirmation of Archie Gray’s move to Tottenham.

Leeds are reported to have received around £40 million for the sale of the 18-year-old sensation, significantly easing their concerns when it comes to complying with PSR.

That, alongside Red Bull’s investment and the sales of other fringe players such as Marc Roca and Diego Llorente (not yet confirmed), puts Leeds in a good position when it comes to keeping some of their other key men. However, it is not likely to stop interest.

PSG join race to sign Leeds star Crysencio Summerville

It was claimed by journalist Ben Jacobs on Monday that Leeds will now only consider the sales of their other important players if they show a desire to move on.

There have been several attracting interest this summer, none of which have got anywhere near as far down the line as Gray and Tottenham.

Until last week when speculation really grew surrounding Gray, Crysencio Summerville had actually been the most heavily linked with an exit.

He is on the radar of numerous Premier League clubs and it had even been reported that Brighton opened talks with Leeds to sign him. However, nothing significant has since developed, which is why Gray’s departure moved so fast.

But Leeds could be about to have their resolve tested for the 22-year-old Dutchman with journalist Wiebe de Vries reporting that PSG have now entered the race to sign him.

As mentioned, PSG have a lot of cash to spend this summer after Mbappe’s departure and their strategy is to build a team packed full of young talent with the potential to become superstars.

Summerville is someone who falls under that category and so their interest is certainly one to watch in the coming weeks, with an asking price of £30 million.

Leeds had been open to Summerville sale

Given the emotional connection and family legacy at the club, Gray was someone Leeds had been reluctant to lose until last week.

Instead, Leeds had actually been more open to the sales of either Summerville, Illan Meslier or Willy Gnonto before Gray, but there was just not enough interest.

As mentioned, Leeds are now in a better position when it comes to entering negotiations for those players as they are no longer under any pressure to sell.

Summerville has never shown any sign of wanting to force through an exit from Leeds but it will be interesting to see if that changes is PSG do come calling.
