Joe Rodon’s brother drops three-word hint that £2.5m player could soon follow him to Leeds United

Joe Rodon has become Leeds United’s first signing of the summer and his brother may have just hinted at who’s next.

Rodon has moved back to Elland Road permanently after such an impressive season on loan in 2023/24, putting pen-to-paper on a four-year-deal.

The Welshman rejected a number of approaches from Premier League clubs in favour of a return to Leeds, and was part of the deal that took Archie Gray the other way to Tottenham Hotspur.

It is said that Rodon’s priority has always been on a move back to Leeds having finally found himself a home where he can play regular football, after a difficult few years at Spurs.

The likes of Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Brentford were all reportedly credited with an interest in the 26-year-old.

Rodon’s brother drops potential Connor Roberts hint

Rodon will now be able to link up again with two of his teammates on the international stage for Wales in Ethan Ampadu and Dan James.

As early as December Ampadu was already making pleas for Rodon to join Leeds permanently, and he may well not be the last Welshman to move to Elland Road this summer.

Connor Roberts is among those to have given his reaction to the news of Rodon’s return, who himself was on loan at Leeds last season.

Roberts had previously hinted that his time at Leeds was over but Daniel Farke is keen on signing him for a second time, but has so far had to wait due to the uncertainty surrounding Burnley’s managerial situation.

However, in response to Roberts‘ comment under Leeds’ Instagram post about Rodon’s return, Joe’s brother Sam has dropped a hint that the £2.5m defender could be following him back to West Yorkshire.

In a three-word response to the 28-year-old, Sam simply wrote: “You next Robs.” Given Leeds’ shortage of right-backs, hopefully he is right.

Burnley transfer deal could accelerate Roberts exit

As mentioned, any decision on Roberts’ future is unlikely to be taken until Burnley actually find themselves a manager.

However, Leeds certainly received a boost in their hopes of securing his return after Burnley confirmed the signing of PSV right-back Shurandy Sambo on Friday.

Sambo made 11 Eredivisie appearances for PSV last season and so there is no question he has come to play first team football at Turf Moor, pushing Roberts even further down the pecking order.

The 28-year-old is now effectively third choice given that Vitinho was also the preferred option ahead of the Welshman even before he moved to Leeds.
