Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is a ‘big admirer’ of Leeds star, will sell attacker to fund £25m move

Leeds United have already made one big sale this summer in Archie Gray but Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is a ‘big admirer’ of another Elland Road star and could make a £25m move.

Leeds had to sell one big name to ease financial concerns earlier this month and given there were no other bids on the table, 18-year-old Gray was the one to go. He joined Tottenham in a £40m transfer.

A move that allowed Leeds to strike a permanent deal for Joe Rodon, for a quarter of the fee received for Gray. Although sad to see Gray go, Leeds fans are largely happy to make a £30m profit as well as Rodon.

The sale of Gray is said to put Leeds in a better position when it comes to bids for other players. Plenty have been linked, with Brighton said to be interested in four and even bidding £30m for Georginio Rutter.

Newcastle will sell Miguel Almiron to fund move for Leeds star

Like Leeds, Newcastle were forced into selling players before the PSR deadline in order to comply. Yankuba Minteh moved to Brighton for £33m, while Elliot Anderson left The Toon for Nottingham Forest.

The Toon have to sell before they can buy and TalkSPORT say Howe is a ‘big admirer’ of Leeds attacker Crysencio Summerville after the Dutchman won the Championship Player of the Year award last season.

Indeed, the report says Howe is even willing to sell Paraguay star Miguel Almiron with Saudi Arabia clubs interested in order to fund a move for Summerville. A fee of £25m is touted to sign the Leeds winger.

Newcastle are not alone in list of Summerville admirers

Liverpool, Chelsea, Fulham, West Ham and Bournemouth were all touted initially. Crystal Palace were then suggested as a possible option for Summerville if Michael Olise left and now, Olise has joined Bayern.

Newcastle are said to have discussed Summerville internally and even French champions PSG could make a move for Summerville as they look to replace Kylian Mbappe. Plenty of interest in Summerville, then.

However, nothing has yet materialised and the pocket-sized attacker has been front and centre of the pre-season videos released by Leeds over the last fortnight, as Farke prepares his side for next season.
