Daniel Farke may be lost for words as Fabrizio Romano transfer update could spell bad news for Leeds United

Fabrizio Romano so often brings good news. But for Daniel Farke and Leeds United, Romano’s latest bit of insight could spell bad news where the summer transfer window is concerned.

Leeds United have lofty ambitions, as they should do, and this season has seen their careful planning and preparations come to fruition with Leeds sitting pretty in 1st place of the Championship table.

It could be prettier for Daniel Farke’s side with Sheffield United now level on points, but the going remains good, and all signs still point towards Leeds being in the Premier League next season with the Whites having a somewhat favourable run in.

Up next, Leeds United host Swansea City at Elland Road. Former Leeds midfielder Alan Sheehan has been named Swansea City manager until the end of the season, but many will expect Leeds to win and put themselves another step closer to the Premier League.

And promotion would of course spark a busy summer transfer window for the Whites, and two Southampton players in particular might be of key interest for Farke, especially with the Saints nailed on for relegation.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Southampton’s ridiculous £100m Tyler Dibling valuation

Recent reports had claimed that Southampton valued Tyler Dibling at £100million amid interest from the likes of Man City, Man United, and also Spurs. The news brought a comical laugh from many football fans on social media, though it was a possible worry for Leeds who want to sign Cameron Archer and Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton.

Southampton’s Dibling valuation could be an indicator as to how they’ll approach the upcoming summer transfer window and it may prematurely rule Leeds out of the race for Archer and Ramsdale as they won’t be about to spend big on either player: anything below the £20million is more than reasonable.

But speaking on Market Madness, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Southampton really do want £100million for Dibling. They view him as ‘one of the best players in the world in terms of potential’, and that might show just how ridiculous the Saints’ summer transfer window could become.

One other Southampton signing could be nailed on for Leeds United

Whilst Leeds might be priced out of moves for Archer and Ramsdale – Leeds United fans don’t even want Ramsdale in the summer – there remains the strong chance that Leeds could sign Kyle Walker-Peters.

The Saints full-back is out of contract in the summer and so Southampton can’t whack one of their ridiculous transfer fees on his head, with Leeds United keen on Walker-Peters but facing competition from the likes of West Ham.

For Farke though, earning promotion is the first and foremost priority . But once that’s secured, or if it’s secured, expect summer planning to quickly get underway with Leeds in desperate need of quality if they’re to stabilise themselves in the Premier League after a two year hiatus.
