Leeds United return to Championship competition this weekend when they face Swansea City.

The international break came at the perfect time for Leeds United as it allowed the side to take a step back from the intense Championship title race just as results started to go awry.

Daniel Farke’s side have won just one of their last four games and, consequently, have surrendered their advantage at the top of the Championship table.

Sheffield United currently sit on 80 points alongside Leeds, with Burnley just two behind.

In fact, the Blades could even claim top spot for themselves ahead of Leeds’ match with Swansea City as they face Coventry City before the Whites are in action.

The pressure is on Leeds and here is everything you need to know about the fixture.

Leeds United vs Swansea City team news

Farke is hopeful Willy Gnonto will be available for the game after he suffered an ankle injury on international duty with Italy U21s, though he likely won’t be.

The manager said in his pre-match press conference: “We will see. Gnonto arrived back on Sunday. Assessment, treatment and rehab work.

“Today, we tried to involve him in light sessions. It will be a late call. We won’t do anything stupid. But I hope to have him at least available for the squad. Final tests are tomorrow.

“No team training with team duels or whatever. Final call tomorrow. Hope he is available for the Luton game.”

Elsewhere, Max Wober and Ethan Ampadu are both back in training but are unlikely to be involved but Patrick Bamford has a chance of making his first appearance since January.

Farke added: “It was good to have the chance after a busy period to recharge. And also to have a bit more time on the training pitch.

“We’ve used our under-21s to train a few sessions with them to have the right about numbers. We are still without a few players, even today.

“Max Wober was today back in team training for the first time. Ethan Ampadu is back in team training since last Friday. We have no other concerns apart from Gnonto.

“Firpo is still on his way back. The first feedback is that there is no injury from him.”

Predictions

Swansea are down in 16th and enduring a very difficult season, so much so that manager Luke Williams was recently sacked.

Former Leeds man Alan Sheehan has taken interim charge and picked up seven points in the last five games, including wins against Blackburn and Middlesbrough.

With Sheehan now confirmed as Swansea boss for the rest of the season, they’re not as easy an opponent as they have been previously.

However, given Leeds at home and having no early kick-off hoodoo hanging over them, they should get back to winning ways as long as the pressure doesn’t make them crack.

Prediction: Leeds United 2-0 Swansea City
