Former Leeds United midfielder Alan Sheehan has been named Swansea City manager until the end of the season. His next game: a trip to Elland Road.

It’s a huge game for both sides on Saturday as Leeds United look to maintain their spot at the top of the Championship table, whereas Alan Sheehan will want to make a positive start after his cub’s latest announcement on Thursday.

Swansea City have named Sheehan in charge until the summer amid what’s been a rather unstable season for the Welsh club, who sit in 16th place of the table, 36 points behind Leeds.

Before the March international break, Leeds were held to a 2-2 draw at QPR. It means that Daniel Farke’s side have now won just one of their last four in the league, with Sheffield United in 2nd now level on points and Burnley in 3rd just two points behind.

On Friday night, Sheffield United host Coventry City, whilst Burnley host Bristol City on Saturday afternoon.

Swansea City boss Alan Sheehan well aware of Leeds United threat

Speaking to the press on Thursday afternoon after landing the Swansea job until the summer – Sheehan has so far overseen five games taking seven points – Sheehan was of coursed asked about former club Leeds United, and about their patchy recent form going into Saturday’s game at Elland Road.

Sheehan said: “They’re a top team for this league. To butter it up any other way would be silly. It’s probably the toughest game of the season. To go to Elland Road, it’s going to be a hell of a challenge. Doesn’t really matter what form they’re on, you know what challenge you’re going to get when you go to Elland Road. Top, top team for the Championship.”

The 38-year-old, who played for Leeds between 2008 and 2010, then added: “I think they’ve got quality all over the field, really. High, high level players for this division and that’s why they are where they are.”

Leeds United vs Swansea City score prediction

Speaking on the Championship Check In ahead of the weekend, EFL expert Sam Parkin has predicted a very bleak return to Elland Rod for Sheehan and his Swansea City side, backing Leeds to run out as 4-0 winners.

Parkin said: “I’m going to go 4-0. I’m going to predict some trouble water ahead for Swansea. I’ve not loved some of their performances. I think this could be a real struggle for them.”

Interestingly, Leeds have scored four goals in each of their last two games against Swansea City, last beating them 4-3 in Wales in the reverse fixture back in November.

Saturday’s game kick off at 3pm.
