Leeds United have retained their interest in a number of January transfer targets, it seems, and we could see several now join in the summer transfer window.

The key was was Cameron Archer. Leeds United wanted to sign Archer on loan or permanently from Southampton on deadline day, and he was open to moving to Elland Road, but for the Saints saying no in the end.

Elsewhere, names like Nico Elvedi were mentioned throughout January, with Leeds United having loads of January transfer targets in the end but not actually signing any in the whole month.

Ahead of the summer, it’s claimed that Leeds United have retained their interest in Archer, along with Emi Buendia who was also a key target in January, and who also worked with Daniel Farke at Norwich City in the past.

Previous transfer targets and also former players seems like something Farke is fond of with his former Norwich City centre-back Andrew Omobamidele another who was linked with a loan move to Leeds United in the winter transfer window.

He joined Strasbourg on loan from Nottingham Forest in the end, though an Achilles injury has seemingly curtailed his campaign.

Leeds United want summer deal for Andrew Omobamidele

Fresh reports have revealed that Leeds United are also eyeing up a summer deal for Omobamidele, with Forest looking set to cash in on the Irishman this summer after what’s been a thoroughly failed move from Norwich City, who the Reds signed in an £11million deal in 2023.

GIVEMSPORT report that Nottingham Forest will command less than £10million for Omobamidele after previously wanting £10million in January. They add that Strasbourg have an option to buy the 22-year-old but that they’re unlikely to take up that option given his injury and limited game time: he’s played only five games for Liam Rosenior’s side since arriving on loan.

The same report adds that Leeds ‘will evaluate the situation once more after he recovers from his injury’ and that Omobamidele would be open to joining either a Championship or Premier League side in the summer.

What Daniel Farke said about Leeds United’s interest in Andrew Omobamidele

Omobamidele was being quite heavily linked with a move to Elland Road at one point in the January window. There was even reports stating that Leeds United were in pole position to sign Omobamidele before he eventually moved to Ligue 1.

Though Farke eventually spoke out on the matter and his comments hinted at him thinking Omobamidele wasn’t good enough for Leeds at the time. Farke said of Omobamidele’s links to Leeds United in January: “Sometimes, a loan is available. [Bringing players in from] the Premier League is possible but, if the player is available, there is a reason why.

“It means [the player in question] does not belong to the core group to the 17 or 18 players that are important to his side. There is a problem; Quality, personal reasons, fallout with the manager, just coming back from injury.”

Expect Leeds to not rush into a decision on Omobamidele given his injury. But it seems as though he’s certainly someone on their radar with centre-backs still light at Leeds.
