Leeds United are hoping to sign some players to cover up fan’s frustration in the January transfer window.

Daniel Farke will stick by his quiet window claim until the February 3rd deadline but Leeds may need one or two to give them that extra push to the Premier League.

Fans may be frustrated at Paraag Marathe for his transfer window pledge not living up to the expectation so far.

However, the Whites may see this window as an opportunity to regroup and stick out with what they’ve got going into February.

This could change though, as a Leeds target is looking towards the exit door at his club.

Leeds United target Andrew Omobamidele is all but set to leave Nottingham Forest

Leeds may still have a chance to secure Andrew Omobamidele who is also wanted by Championship rivals Sheffield United.

However, Leeds seem like the favourites for Omobamidele, and after Pascal Struijk’s injury for Leeds, it could see a pursuit for the 22-year-old centre-back.

It’s been revealed by Nottingham Forest coach, Andy Reid, that Omobamidele needs to play football.

Speaking to Off The Ball, Reid praised Omobamidele and suggested he needs to start playing for the benefit of his career.

“It’s been a tough period for him, opportunities have been limited,” Reid said.

“He needs to go play football – I’d imagine he will find something that lets him get on the football pitch.

“He’s somebody that I worked with at the Ireland under 18s, he’s a great lad and I think he’ll have a really good career.

“But he needs to play some football.”

Reid thought Leeds target Omobamidele was ‘excellent’ in 2021

A centre-back is certainly needed at Leeds as Farke’s worry about his defenders staying fit carries on.

Although Omobamidele has only played one game this season for Forest, Farke knows the youngster well after the two worked together at Norwich City.

Back in 2021, Reid spoke of Omobamidele’s potential to the Off The Ball Saturday Football Show (38:48) and it backs up how the coach speaks on the Ireland international now.

“Over the last two, two-and-a-half years though, he has really kicked on.

“He has got a great, strong mentality and he has a bit about him in that he isn’t afraid to put his foot in and he likes to win his headers and his tackles.

“In possession then, he is excellent. He has a little bit of everything.”

It’s pivotal the young centre-back gets game time now and in Struijk’s absence, it could be a perfect time.

Omobamidele has the potential and a move to Leeds could be the best decision for all parties.
