Leeds United fans often have an eye on their former players. And as it goes, the club has just missed a potentially golden opportunity to re-sign one of them.
Leeds United’s January transfer window could go one of two ways: it looks like it could either be very quiet in terms of both signings and sales, or it looks like there could be quite a few sales.
Daniel Farke says Leeds will be quiet in January but whether that’s just a smokescreen remains to be seen, with Leeds surely wanting a couple of signings to keep their title chase alive.
Right now though, there’s more and more rumours emerging of players likely to leave Elland Road during the January transfer window, with Patrick Bamford the man in headlines right now.
Bamford is wanted by Wrexham in League One whilst the likes of Illan Meslier and Pascal Struijk are both linked with Premier League moves.
In terms of possible signings, James McAtee is one who’s been linked with Leeds, though he’s one of very few to have been mentioned.

Leeds United have just squandered chance for Mateusz Klich reunion
Mateusz Klich has been in headlines recently, with his future at now former club D.C. United having been up in the air.
Klich was linked with a return to Poland after several successful years with D.C. in the MLS. But he’s since joined Atlanta United.
It was revealed soon after the 34-year-old’s links to Poland that Atlanta United were in talks with Klich over an MLS switch which has since been confirmed.
Leeds United fans wanted Klich to return on a free transfer. But the opportunity has now gone, and for Farke and the Leeds United owners, it could be a golden opportunity missed.
What Marcelo Bielsa really thought about Mateusz Klich at Leeds United
Ethan Ampadu is back from injury now and so Farke’s midfield options are a bit more full. Though another injury in the second half of the season could leave him wanting yet again.
Ilia Gruev remains injured and Joshua Guilavogui doesn’t seem like he’ll have too much of an impact, so someone like Klich returning would’ve given Farke another solid midfield option, whilst also giving the fan base a real boost.
And Farke only has to look at past comments from Bielsa to realise just how good a player Klich was, and may still be.
Speaking in 2020, Bielsa told Leeds Live: “Klich, for me, is a player who can play in all the best teams in the world.
“So, he is in Leeds by chance. It doesn’t have to do with the fact I decided he continued at Leeds.”
Leeds fans will no doubt wish Klich all the best with his new club.
