A report in Spain has provided an update on the likelihood of Patrick Bamford joining Getafe after a deal for the ex-England international lost momentum in the last few days.
Patrick Bamford appeared set to join Spanish side Getafe on a free transfer after reports suggested he was close to agreeing a move to La Liga.
However, Getafe boss Jose Bordalas distanced his club from a move, stating that they were just rumours ahead of their game against Levante at the weekend.
After Getafe played out a 1-1 draw with Levante, ending the game with veteran right-back Allan Nyom up front, the possibility of Bamford moving to Spain appeared to be back on the table.
Now, a report in Spain has provided an update on Getafe’s position on the deal, as the former Premier League man continues his wait for a new club.

Latest on former Leeds United man Patrick Bamford’s move to Getafe
Bamford has been without a club for just over a month, after he was released by Leeds at the end of the summer transfer window.
According to Spanish publication Diario AS, Getafe still see Bamford as “an attractive prospect”. However, a deal remains some way from being completed as Getafe consider their options in the market.
The report states: “In the market, the reality is that there aren’t many options. The club is scouring the list of free agents, where Patrick Bamford’s name stands out.
“The English striker, with experience in the Premier League, appears to be an attractive prospect due to his profile and standing, although a deal is far from being finalised.
“Beyond him, the shortage is evident, and the sporting directorate is exploring ways to make an emergency signing.”

When did Patrick Bamford last score a goal for Leeds?
At 32 years old, Bamford still has plenty of football left to play and will be hoping that his next move can be finalised as soon as possible.
Until a new deal is agreed, the number of days since Bamford’s last competitive goal will keep climbing after he failed to score for Leeds under Daniel Farke last season.
Bamford’s last goal came in a dramatic 4-3 win away at Middlesbrough during the 2023/24 season, as Leeds fell short of automatic promotion before suffering a heartbreaking defeat at Wembley in the play-off final.
That goal came on 22nd April 2024, which means the former England international has now gone 527 days without finding the net.
