Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is still searching for a new club. But recent reports have backed him to join Getafe in Spain.
Patrick Bamford remains a free agent. Earlier in the season, Leeds United and Bamford agreed to part ways with the striker well down the pecking order, and he’s had a few links to different clubs since.
Notably, Celtic were strongly linked with Bamford for a while. But that link died when Celtic instead signed Kelechi Iheanacho. Soon after, it was revealed that Bamford has interest from MLS sides.
On Tuesday, though, reports revealed how Getafe are trying to sign Bamford on a free transfer. It looked as though the move was progressing quickly but the Getafe boss may have now poured cold water on the move.

Getafe boss plays down links to Leeds United hero Patrick Bamford
A few former or current Leeds United players have already made the switch to Spain’s top flight this season including Mateo Joseph who’s on loan at RCD Mallorca, and Largie Ramazani who’s on loan at Valencia. Meanwhile, Junior Firpo has joined Real Betis.
And whilst Bamford’s move to Getafe seems as though it might be quite advanced already, the club’s manager Jose Bordalas seemingly played down a move for Bamford ahead of his side’s La Liga game against Alaves on Wednesday night.
Asked about Bamford, Bordalas told TeleMadrid: “It’s just a rumour”, instead putting all of his focus on the next game.

Three players who have played for both Leeds United and Getafe
Bamford could join a growing number of English players to make their way out into Europe and try their hand at a new league. He could also join a rather exclusive list of players to have played for both Leeds United and Getafe.
There are three such players and one of whom is Pablo Hernandez. The former Leeds hero was at Getafe between 2007 and 2008 and Hernandez is now the caretaker manager of CD Castellon in the Segunda Division.
Elsewhere, former Leeds goalkeeper Kiko Casilla joined Getafe after leaving Elland Road in 2022, whilst Samuel Saiz spent time on loan at Getafe from Leeds United back in 2019, and is now playing his football in Turkey with Eyupspor.
