A former player who never really got a chance at Leeds United could now be given a chance at Juventus, with clubs queueing up for his signature.

Leeds United’s squad right now is a very balanced one: not too big and not too small, with decent depth across the pitch, albeit still lacking a bit of competition in the attacking areas.

But Daniel Farke is doing a good job with the tools at his disposal, summed up after Leeds United beat Wolves 3-1 in their last outing in the Premier League.

In total, Leeds United signed 10 new players this summer. But even more left the club, either permanently or temporarily, including certain names like Sam Greenwood who’d been with the club for several years.

Greenwood was at the club even at the time of Marcelo Bielsa. He was a youngster who got a few chances to impress under the Argentine boss. Though one player who didn’t get his chance was Elia Caprile.

Juventus queue up to sign former Leeds United player Elia Caprile

Leeds fans may or may not remember the name of goalkeeper Caprile. The Italian was with Leeds between 2020 and 2022 but never made a Premier league appearance for the club following his move from Cagliari, eventually leaving for Bari.

Impressing at Bari, Caprile earned a move to Napoli in 2023. But it was another tough two-year spell making just four league appearances before moving to Cagliari. Now, another big-club move could be on the cards for the 24-year-old.

Last week, it was revealed that Inter and AC Milan are interested in Caprile. Calcio Mercato have now revealed that fellow Italian giants Juventus, where another former Leeds man in Weston McKennie plays, are also interested in Caprile, in what could be a £26million move.

Leeds United never really sorted their goalkeeper situation

Seeing Caprile progress and now being linked with some of the biggest teams in Europe may come as a blow to Leeds United, even now, given the uncertainty surrounding their goalkeeper position.

Lucas Perri picked up an injury earlier in the month but looks to be closing in on a return to action, prompting debate over whether or not Farke sticks with Karl Darlow in goal after a steady run of games for the Wales international.

Leeds United fans have mixed feelings about Perri, particularly after that 5-0 thrashing against Arsenal earlier in the season. Darlow though is a safe pair of hands, albeit not a spectacular goalkeeper.
