Leeds United send cheap shot to Sheffield United which won’t leave Chris Wilder smiling

With the season now at its end, Leeds United have done all the hard work, but Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United still have a job at hand.

They succeeded in their first-leg playoff match with Bristol City, showing that they could join Daniel Farke’s men in the Premier League.

Whether Leeds fans will like this or not, the rivalry between them could be set to continue in the top flight, as it’s been box office stuff this season.

Wilder’s mind games didn’t work in terms of automatic promotion, with Leeds prevailing comfortably, but the Blades could get revenge next season.

However, the Whites are still laughing off the pitch, and despite Sheffield’s win, they sent a brutal dig to Wilder’s camp.

The Blades looked comfortable and have one foot in the door for the final, but Farke will be glad his work is done and preparation can begin for the Premier League.

It’s clear that Leeds will have to spend over £100m, and Wilder will know he has to match that if his side have any chance of staying up.

To see both competing in the top flight again will no doubt be great entertainment, and Leeds’ media have shown that they aren’t afraid to send their shots.

It’s a hilarious gag which proves why it would be great to see the Blades join them, and despite the respect between both managers, the fanbases know how much the rivalry means.

Wilder and Leeds could meet in the transfer window with promotion failure

It’s obviously a good start for the Blades, who will meet either Coventry City or Sunderland in the final.

Leeds fans will be thrilled they don’t have to go through the nerves of the playoffs again, and it never really seemed like they would in those last six games of the season.

But if Sheffield fail to get promoted, it won’t only hurt to miss out on Premier League football, but Farke could snoop around their camp.

This means that Leeds could sign Gustavo Hamer who has been a target for a while at Elland Road, as no doubt the midfielder will want to play Premier League football.

Wilder might have called Leeds’ interest ‘nonsense’, but it certainly won’t be nonsense to the Dutchman if he has the chance to play in the top flight next season away from Sheffield.
