Leeds United are on the cusp of securing promotion back to the Premier League at the expense of Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.
A week can be seismic in football and Leeds United have gone from the despair of potentially dropping into the Play-offs to the ecstasy of returning to the top of the Championship table.
While Daniel Farke’s side has picked up successive victories over Middlesbrough and Preston, Sheffield United have completely collapsed and find themselves five points adrift of the automatic places.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |

The Blades have lost three games in a row, the latest to rock bottom side Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, to see their promotion dreams shatter.
Chris Wilder has lost his composure amid the tense title race, first criticising his supporters after their first defeat to Oxford United and then getting involved in a fracas at full-time this past weekend.
Jayden Bogle has been crucial all season after signing from Sheffield United and was particularly outstanding against Preston.
It’s a trick Leeds may well look to pull again in the summer transfer window by signing Gustavo Hamer from their local foes.

Leeds United could poach Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United in summer transfer window
Not only did Bogle score what transpired to be the winning goal against Preston but he put in a sensational display.
Bogle was fantastic going forward and defensively. He carried the ball 366 meters, the most by a Leeds full-back since Luke Ayling in 2021, and was a constant threat on the right.
At the other end, when nerves began to shred in the closing stages, he made several vital challenges and interceptions.
After starting all but two Championship fixtures and registering eight goal contributions, Bogle has been one of Leeds’ most crucial players this season.
All that was signed for just £5m and a player taken from a direct promotion rival to boot. Ao Tanaka may take the crown, but Bogle will be many supporters’ signing of the year.
Signing a player from a close competitor obviously has the added bonus of weakening them and that’s something Leeds may look to do in the summer, even if Leeds and Sheffield United aren’t in the same league next season.
Leeds have long been interested in Gustavo Hamer and failed in their attempts to sign him from Bramall Lane along with Bogle last summer.
The Blades rejected the £13m bid out of hand but, as long as Leeds don’t slip up now and move up to the top flight, then they will be in a much stronger position to finally get their man in the summer.
If they still want him.
Should Leeds United sign Gustavo Hamer?
There are plenty of positives to signing Hamer, not least because it would weaken a rival who Leeds are likely to come up against again sooner rather than later, regardless of the division, and it would probably get Wilder’s blood boiling once again.
The playmaker has eight goals and six assists this season and plays in the position Farke most needs to strengthen.
Hamer even did reasonably well in his one season in the Premier League in a struggling Blades side that finished dead last, being involved in 11 of their 35 goals.
Additionally, if Leeds were to go straight back down again, he would be a great asset in the Championship.
But, clearly, the goal will be to remain in the Premier League for a long time. Is Hamer, who turns 28 in the summer, going to guarantee safety?
Can a better, more established Premier League talent or a younger star with even higher potential be found?
Leeds will need a lot of investment in the squad if they want to survive in the Premier League. Hamer would add quality but that money might be better spent elsewhere.
