Last summer, Leeds United poached Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United. This next summer, it could well be Gustavo Hamer.
Leeds United and Sheffield United have been neck and neck in the promotion race all season.
Right now, after Leeds United beat Millwall 2-0 in midweek and the Blades drew with Bristol City, Daniel Farke’s side are back in 1st place of the Championship table, and with a two point lead over Chris Wilder’s side.
There’s now just nine games left to play with Leeds heading to QPR on Saturday, looking to avoid a fourth-straight defeat at Loftus Road, whilst Sheffield United take on rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on the Sunday.
Leeds could yet go into the break with their five point lead at the top of the table restored if the Owls can pull off a very plausible win over Sheffield United.
It would make for a good mood among Leeds United fans going into the break, and it could be a precursor to what might yet be a busy and expensive summer transfer window at Elland Road.

Gustavo Hamer makes Premier League desires clear amid Leeds United links
Throughout the season, Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer has impressed, and he’s often been linked with Leeds United too. The Dutchman has scored seven and assisted five more in 33 Championship outings for the Blades so far.
Last linked with Leeds United during the January transfer window, the 27-year-old has now been speaking about the Premier League and how he feels he belongs in the English top flight, in what could prove to be a useful nugget of information for Leeds this summer if they earn promotion, and Sheffield United don’t.
Hamer has told Dutch Outlet Viaplay Sport: “Yeah, yeah, I think so [that I belong in the Premier League]. I think that I can definitely handle it, personally.
“Because, well, we played in the Premier League last year of course, and I’ve already been able to show myself a bit in terms of scoring goals, creating chances and all that, things like that.
“So yeah, I do think I belong in the Premier League myself.”

Gustavo Hamer is Leeds United’s alternative to one other midfielder
Pretty much all season long, it’s been reported that Leeds United want to sign a new playmaker for the midfield.
They failed to sign one in January despite links to Hamer and a number of other such players. But in the build up to the summer, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Leeds United want to sign either Hamer or Buendia.
Jacobs explained: “Definitely a playmaker. Gustavo Hamer or possibly Emi Buendia if Bayer Leverkusen don’t take up their option to buy clause.”
It seems like Buendia is the one who Farke most wants to sign, given the strength of links in January, and if the Blades do go up then a move for the out of favour Aston Villa man could be much more likely.
But if Sheffield United dramatically miss out on promotion then Leeds could swoop in for Hamer, who’s surely put the feelers out for a Premier League move in the event that his side do miss out.
