Aidy White hails Leeds United player who was ‘sensational’ vs Preston, it’s not Manor Solomon

It’s a great day for Leeds United and Aidy White has picked out one player for high praise from the victory over Preston.

What a difference a week can make. Seven days ago, Leeds United were on the cusp of disaster after they could only draw with Luton Town, slipping down to third in the Championship table.

Now they’re back on top after successive victories at Middlesbrough and against Preston at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke’s side put in their best display for weeks, if not months, against North End, taking the lead after four minutes through Manor Solomon’s sublime strike.

Preston hit back moments later, but Leeds were unperturbed and shortly went back ahead when Jayden Bogle poked home Solomon’s cross.

The scoreline would have been much higher if Joel Piroe had his shooting boots on, but the Whites held out for a significant victory.

Solomon will grab the headlines for his match-winning performance but former Leeds defender Aidy White has picked out Bogle for high praise.

Jayden Bogle ‘sensational’ in Leeds United victory

Not only did Bogle score what proved to be the winner, but he was fantastic throughout with his attacking play before making some vital defensive interventions late on.

Speaking on the BBC, White hailed Bogle’s brilliant display. He said: “Jayden Bogle has been sensational.

“He’s carried the ball up the pitch so well throughout the game and he’s won another corner.”

Sheffield United suffer another defeat in Championship promotion race

Leeds’ victory wasn’t the only good news on the day as Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United suffered a third successive defeat, this time to rock bottom Plymouth Argyle.

The Blades had taken the lead in the first half, but two late goals saw the relegation-threatened Plymouth win 2-1.

That puts Leeds five points clear from their Yorkshire rivals, who are in third, and in a great position to finally return to the Premier League.

White added: “We’ll celebrate everything we can get. The points between us and Sheffield United is a decent gap, but it’s not over yet.

“It’s important we get this done as quick as we can, if we keep picking up the points we’ll see ourselves over the line.

“We’ve certainly not wobbled as much as Sheffield United, the lads have managed to ride the pressure really well.”
