Leeds United will no doubt make Gustavo Hamer a major priority if Sheffield United don’t get promoted.

Leeds have been keen admirers of Hamer for a while, and which club wouldn’t be if the Blades don’t get promoted.

Chris Wilder will be hoping they can follow Burnley and the Whites into the Premier League, with not only promotion, but also retaining their key players like Hamer.

The Dutchman has been linked with the Whites for quite a while, but Hamer was mooted for Leeds in January, but he chose to remain at Sheffield.

After Leeds already took Jayden Bogle from Sheffield, Wilder will be reluctant to let the midfield maestro leave, but he might not have a choice.

Chris Wilder gives insight into Gustavo Hamer after Leeds United interest

With Leeds now promoted, they’ll be hoping to get the title wrapped up against Plymouth Argyle.

This can then lead to plans being made, as Paraag Marathe has a £100m transfer plan.

Hamer could firmly end up being a part of that plan, in what would leave Wilder fuming if he had another prized star taken off him from the Whites.

There’s history in this deal as Wilder tried to disrupt Hamer to Leeds by going for Joel Piroe.

Well, this time he’s remained clear on his view of the 27-year-old and might have even hinted at Leeds’ interest being ‘nonsense’.

Speaking to The Sheffield Star, Wilder and Hamer sat down with the outlet after he just scooped up the Championship Player Of The Season at the EFL Awards, giving more reason why Daniel Farke wants him.

“As soon as we talk and we go ‘listen, we need to, from a club point of view, restore value to our big players’, and I think we’ve done that in terms of Anel, Vini, and most importantly, Gus, who was a big player, a big signing for us in the Premier League. But you’ve got to be all in,” Wilder said.

“There was obvious interest from clubs, a little bit of nonsense, noise and nonsense at times – but as soon as he was all in, and we talked about that, he’s given everything for me.”

Hamer would be missing piece to Farke’s Leeds

Not only would Hamer’s ability be a reason to sign him, but fans would love to get another one over Wilder.

This has come after their historic feud, as Wilder hasn’t been shy with mind games this season.

Well at the moment, the signs are looking good for Hamer joining Leeds, and Sheffield failing in the playoffs would only increase the likelihood.

It would be a major signing made for Farke, as the number ten position needs shoring up after lacklustre performances from Brenden Aaronson this season, and Hamer has shown he can do things out of nowhere, which is the kind of player Farke needs.

With Hamer wanting Premier League football, there is seemingly only one club in this race that can provide it at the moment.

However, Everton also want Hamer, so it’s looking unlikely the Blades retain the midfielder even if promotion is secured, leaving Wilder unhappy.
